Mars is putting on an extra-bright show this month
Mars is about to make its closest approach to Earth since 2003, giving casual viewers an easy backyard view as the planet turns extra-bright, and even visibly red-orange to the naked eye.
Mars will come closest to Earth, and appear at its brightest, the night of July 27. But it ‘s already the second-brightest planet (after Venus) and is getting brighter nightly.
It is brighter than any star.
