Landmine clearance groups gather in Ottawa – 60 million people still threatened by such weapons
A group of humanitarian landmine clearance and mine action groups will gather in Canada on Monday to celebrate 20 years of the Ottawa Mine Ban Treaty but also to warn that treaty’s vision of a landmine free world is under threat.
Representatives of the groups will join with parliamentarians alongside landmine survivors and Canadian-funded demining staff in Ottawa to outline how Canada can help reenergize global support for mine action, according to a news release issued by the organization
