Kopytko: A day without power, but at least we had cabbage

“No power, no problem; at least we have cabbage!”
Timing is everything. My elderly Aunt Irene, hailing from Alonsa, Man., arrived for a visit last Thursday, and we lost power on Friday afternoon. Irene had left her farm to visit Ottawa, her  first trip “out east,” and she was a bit nervous as she had only been on a plane twice before.
However, there was a 40th wedding anniversary to attend and she would spend a few days. Plus, two of her sisters offered to accompany
