Jury makes 27 recommendations to revamp Ontario's hodgepodge 911 system
A coroner’s jury investigating the deaths of four people whose calls for help fell through cracks in the province’s hodgepodge 911 system wants a single Ontario agency to oversee the service.
Kathryn Missen of Kemptville died four years ago. Unable to speak clearly, she called 911 but her call was relayed from one centre to another. Delays set in and help didn’t arrive.
Three boaters also died near Sudbury after a boat crash as rescuers had trouble pinning down their location.
