Jazz demands uncompromising creativity, says the Plastic Waste Band's Ethan Cohn

For decades, McGill University has been cranking out class after class of distinguished jazz program graduates. Among the latest crop are the members of the Plastic Waste Band, a quintet of musicians led by bassist and composer Ethan Cohn.
The group, whose members are between the ages of 22 and 24 and which released this album a year ago, hits the road this weekend to play a show Sunday night at Bar Robo in Chinatown. Below, Cohn, who is 22, introduces himself and his project.
