Ice boat pilot, 78, dead after Bay of Quinte crash

The OPP is warning the public about unsafe ice conditions after a 78-year-old Ameliasburgh man died Tuesday when his ice boat struck a pressure crack, jamming the front blade, on the Bay of Quinte.
It happened at about 3:40 p.m. near Rednersville Road.
Local residents saw what happened and one donned a floater suit and headed out on the ice to help the pilot, Edward County OPP said.
