Huge barn fire ravages historic farm, kills 80 cattle

Fire killed as many as 80 cattle and destroyed three barns Friday afternoon at a historic Barrhaven dairy farm.
Black Rapids Farm, on Prince of Wales Drive near Fallowfield Road, belongs to the Ruiter family. The fire broke out around 1 p.m.
The cattle were a mix of Holstein calves and cows, but about a dozen escaped harm because they were out in a field.
