Q: How should I get my house ready before I spend the winter in Florida? Can I leave the place with no heat? I was planning to drain the water and shut off the supply as it comes in the house?
A: Shutting off incoming water supply is a good idea in case of leaks, but I’d keep the heat on at about 10ºC (50ºF) since it’s difficult to drain all the water from inside of appliances such as washing machines, ice makers, water softeners and such.
