Heavenly conversion: Former convent in Westboro turned show-stopping home

After two years of searching for the right home, Denise Hulaj felt it was divine intervention when she walked through the doors of a former convent turned modern showpiece in Westboro.
A neighbourhood landmark, the former nunnery, school and home, which sits on the corner of Kenwood and Edison avenues, was designed and built in the early 1930s by Mother Marie Thomas d’Aquin, founder of the Institute Jeanne d’Arc, a religious order dedicated to providing room and board to young women.
