Has BlackBerry become a 'patent troll'? Not quite, says Ottawa researcher

Tech companies will be closely monitoring the results of BlackBerry’s patent infringement lawsuits against Facebook and Snapchat, which could have a lasting impact on the tech sector and beyond, an Ottawa legal researcher says.
The Waterloo-based software company and former smartphone maker recently made headlines after announcing separate suits in U.S. court against Facebook Inc. and Snap Inc. (which makes Snapchat) over alleged patent infringements related to instant messaging systems.
