Hardcastle: We worry about opioids – but what about alcohol?

With the Ontario government’s recent promise to devote $222 million to the opioid crisis, substance abuse is at the forefront of the minds of policymakers and the public. 
Yet despite evidence to the contrary, many don’t see alcohol as a particularly harmful substance. This perception is wrong. What’s more concerning is that the government has little incentive to do anything about it.
