Grade 8 Joan of Arc students sacrifice grad celebration to help emergency shelter

Grade 8 students at the Joan of Arc Academy are taking the money they would have spent on an extravagant graduation celebration and donating it to Ottawa’s Young Women’s Emergency Shelter.
The class has been supporting the shelter, which is run by the Youth Services Bureau Foundation (YSBF), through its Girls 4 Girls club since 2015.
Connie Springfield, who’s been teaching at Ottawa’s only bilingual private girls elementary school for 10 years, said Thursday that she tear
