From CHEO to Haiti with love (and technical support)
One of the first things Aimée Riggs-Willey and Mark Heathcote noticed when they arrived at the hospital in the Haitian capital was the collection of unused dialysis equipment stored in a corner.
The dialysis technologists from CHEO knew that up to 75 per cent of health equipment donated to health centres in low-income countries ends up in landfill (or storage), for a variety of reasons.
