Firefighters douse furnace blaze at Barrhaven duplex

Firefighters’ “rapid-fire attack” made quick work of a reported furnace fire at a Barrhaven duplex Friday morning, preventing flames from spreading beyond a furnace room and into an adjoining unit.
Ottawa Fire Services reported that they were called to the blaze on Edgeware Drive at about 10:30 a.m.
The residents called 911 when their smoke detector sounded and fled the house with their pet dog.
