Electrical cause suspected in $1.5 million highrise fire

Investigators are examining an electrical closet as the potential source of the fire Wednesday that displaced more than 200 residents.
Damage is pegged at $1.5 million in the fire at 251 Donald St., near the Vanier Parkway, which started on the north side of the building’s second floor, Ottawa Fire Services spokeswoman Danielle Cardinal said Thursday. The first floor to the fourth floor were most damaged by fire and smoke.
