Editorial: Where have all the public school trustees gone?
Ottawa’s school board elections have long been known for voter indifference. Now, a potential candidate shortage takes local apathy to a whole new level.
As it stands, the public school board will have contested races in only four of its 12 zones. In Zone 1, which covers Stittsville and the rural western parts of the city, no one has offered to run. The English Catholic board isn’t doing any better, with races in only three of its 10 zones. The deadline to register is July 27.
