Editorial: City of Ottawa must fix child care program quickly

If government has a useful role beyond ensuring collective safety and a robust legal system, that role is surely to help the most vulnerable: the elderly, the sick, the homeless, the children. In none of these areas does it do a particularly stellar job.
Long-term care is a mess. Hospital ERs are overrun. Homelessness is still high. And the children? According to the findings of the city of Ottawa’s auditor general, that’s not going so well either.
