Editorial: Better bridges but a muddled approach to affordable housing

Ottawa, like many cities, faces two major challenges: transportation infrastructure and affordable housing. Tuesday’s federal budget — the last before October’s election — contains good news on the first, much more mixed news on the second.
Commuters in Ottawa and West Quebec will be happy that the government plans to replace the 100-year-old Alexandra Bridge, refresh its studies of Ottawa River crossings and provide millions of dollars to upgrade existing bridges.
