Driver hits utility pole after failing to stop for police

The Ottawa Police Service is reporting a crash in the Montreal Road area, early Sunday morning.
At approximately 1:20 a.m. a police officer carried out a  traffic stop on a vehicle. 
The driver fled in his vehicle and collided with a utility pole a short distance away, knocking out power to several blocks in the area. 
Occupants in the fleeing vehicle were taken to hospital with minor injuries. 
The Special Investigations Unit will be investigating the incident.
