Digging into Jazz From Detroit (book review)

Until just a few days ago, my plan was to wing my way to Detroit for this weekend's 40th annual Detroit Jazz Festival, where such world-class stars as Danilo Perez, Terence Blanchard, Pat Metheny and Joe Lovano would be playing, not to mention local and locally raised heavyweights such as Ron Carter, Sheila Jordan, Kenny Garrett, Rodney Whitaker, Regina Carter and Marion Hayden.
