Damage from fire at seniors' residence set at $1M

A fire that forced more than 70 senior residents to flee their residence early Sunday morning caused more than $1-million damage to the 66 unit retirement home in Centrepointe.
Fire officials said the four-alarm fire started around 3 a.m. on the roof and attic of a parking structure, at The Meridian retirement home near Algonquin College.
