Council going after more accessibility funds from Uber and Lyft

Council on Wednesday directed city staff to try getting more money from Uber and Lyft for accessible transportation programs.
Nearly three years ago, council approved new regulations for taxis and private transportation companies (PTC).
At the time, the city’s consultant, KPMG, recommended PTCs make a 30-cent-per-ride contribution to the city for accessible transportation programs. The city, however, said it doesn’t have authority from the province to charge a mandatory accessibility
