City launches women and gender equity strategy, slated for 2020 implementation

The City of Ottawa marked International Women’s Day with the official launch of its yet-to-be-developed women and gender equity strategy.
The strategy is slated for council implementation in 2020. In a Friday statement, the city said it plans to hold a public forum at some point over the next six months to consult residents on “women’s issues and gender equity.”
The city’s 2019 budget has earmarked $210,000 for the strategy, including one staff position.
