City has paid $8M to settle lawsuits in 2013 bus tragedy

The City of Ottawa has paid out more than $8 million to settle lawsuits related to the deadly crash between an OC Transpo bus and Via Rail train four years ago.
According to city solicitor Rick O’Connor, the city has been served with 39 lawsuits and had settled 31 of them as of Tuesday morning.
The damages claimed in the 39 lawsuits total $26 million, but as O’Connor explained, the plaintiffs can adjust their damages as the cases proceed.
