City approached turf maker for new price after failed contract competition

Faced with operating a million-dollar sports field that football clubs refuse to rent, the city reached out to the supplier of its preferred replacement turf to negotiate a cheaper price on a full surface swap-out.
Another $800,000 will be sunk into the field after the city found a way to knock down the cost from the nearly $1.2-million bid price.
