Chemistry building at Carleton U remains closed after extensive damage from fire, water

Carleton University’s chemistry building remained closed Sunday after fire broke out on the second floor Saturday evening, sending smoke through the building and prompting a campus-wide safety alert.
The fire was reported by campus security at 6:47 p.m. and Ottawa firefighters arrived 10 minutes later to find thick, visible smoke on three floors  of the Steacie building and warnings from heat detectors on the second, third and fourth floors.
