Charges upgraded to first-degree murder in Ottawa jail beating

Charges against three inmates have been upgraded to first-degree murder after the victim of a jailhouse beating on April 11 died late last week.
Ottawa police confirmed Thursday the attempted-murder charges in the attack on Marco Michaud, 36, have been upgraded to murder in the wake of Michaud’s death on May 4.
