Carelessly discarded cigarette blamed in dramatic Lowertown fire
Ottawa fire investigators have determined that a dramatic three-alarm fire in Lowertown Monday night was was caused by a carelessly discarded cigarette.
“Evidence found indicates that the fire can be attributed to the improper disposal of smoking materials in a planter,” Ottawa Fire Services said in a release
Firefighters were called to the mixed commercial-residential building at 304 Cumberland St., between Murray and Clarence streets, shortly before 7 p.m. on Monday.
