Capital region jobless rate drops to 4.5 per cent in September
The jobless rate for the national capital region dropped to 4.5 per cent in September, from 4.7 per cent in August, Statistics Canada reported Friday.
This marked the seventh straight month the unemployment rate was below five per cent, normally a sign of a healthy economy.
The improvement in September reflected the addition of 1,000 net new jobs while the size of the labour force, which includes all people who are seeking jobs, remained the same.
