Burns: Progress on violence against women should be 2018 resolution
What, in the New Year, are we to make of the conviction and sentencing of Basil Borutski for the murders of Carol Culleton, Nathalie Warmerdam and Anastasia Kuzyk?
Do they represent a just outcome to a tragedy, or a symbol of responding after-the-fact to the abject failures of the criminal and family law responses to a man with a long history of violence against women? Sadly, the overwhelming evidence is that it is the latter.
