Fairfield Manor East has been vacated by Kingston Fire and Rescue, leaving its elderly residents and their families scrambling for care.
“We have made extraordinary efforts to work with the building’s owner to ensure the fire safety for these vulnerable residents without success,” Deputy Chief Kevin Donaldson said in the news release sent out late Thursday night. “Compliance with the Ontario Fire Code remains the responsibility of the owner.”
