Brockville-area pedestrian, 78, killed when struck by Via Rail train

An elderly Maitland, Ont. man was killed in a collision with a Via Rail passenger train while apparently crossing the train tracks in a relatively remote section of railway Friday afternoon.
The victim was identified as 78-year-old John Holman, Maitland is about 10 kilometres east of Brockville.
According to police, the victim was struck at about 1 p.m. Friday at a private crossing. The victim was confirmed dead at the scene.
