Basement fire damages Orléans townhouse

An alert neighbour warned residents of a Hancock Crescent row house on Sunday morning of a fire in their basement and called 911.
Firefighters arrived to find everyone safely out of the unit and called in a second alarm when they discovered the blaze had spread into the wall of an adjoining unit.
Damage was estimated at $70,000. The cause was under investigation.
