Barn fire spreads to abandoned house near Manotick

A barn fire near Manotick early Saturday evening spread to a nearby house on the same property, but both structures were abandoned, according to Ottawa Fire Services.
Firefighters received calls about heavy smoke and flames coming from a barn on 425 Nicolls Island Rd. around 6:30 p.m. They called in a working fire while driving to the property. Firefighters secured a water source and started dousing the blaze. The fire was under control at 7:12 p.m. Firefighters said the damage to property
