'Apologetic' driver charged after truck runs red light, strikes motorcycle officer

A Kingston police officer riding a motorcycle suffered a minor knee injury after being hit by a pickup truck that was driven through a red light Tuesday morning.
Const. Pete Lafontaine was riding his Kingston police motorcycle north on Division Street at about 10:30 a.m. when he went through a green light at Elliott Avenue. As he did he saw an eastbound truck on Elliott Avenue travel through a red light at about 50 km/h, police said in a news release.
