Q: This historical note was written by my grandfather about this plate always known as The Empress Eugenie Plate.
“This plate was given to me in 1906 by the late Samuel Philips of Weymouth England with the following history. As a commercial traveller, he was in Paris at the time of the Commune; on returning to his Inn, he saw a carriage in the yard. The landlord told him that it had just returned from taking the Empress Eugenie out of Paris on her escape from the Tuileriers. On
