Woo, Emily Carr's monkey, takes centre stage in new book

Canadian painter Emily Carr loved animals. She lived with them. She painted them. She took them camping and she famously pushed them around Victoria in an old pram.
Of her menagerie, a standout member was easily a Javanese macaque monkey named Woo.

In his new book, Woo, the Monkey who Inspired Emily Carr, biographer Grant Hayter-Menzies looks through the contemporary lens of the issue of captive wild animals to understand the relationship betwe
