Wildfire forces closure of Highway 7 between Agassiz and Hope

Highway 7 between Agassiz and Hope has been closed as crews work to contain a new wildfire burning in the area.
In a news release, Agassiz RCMP said the blaze “appears to have been started from a vehicle which had suffered a flat tire and has spread gaining intensity.”
The Agassiz fire department is battling the brush fire in co-ordination with the B.C. Wildfire Service, with the assistance of helicopters and water bombers.
