White Rock pier will take millions and months to fix

The estimated cost to repair the famed White Rock pier damaged in last month’s massive windstorm, one of the worst in B.C.’s history, could top $6 million, and more than a third of the costs will be for replacing damaged piles, decks and floats.
The pier, which is almost half a kilometre long, lost a 30-metre chunk during the Dec. 20 storm that lashed the area with winds that gusted to 100 km/h, causing a nearby dock and boats moored to it to smash into the wooden pier.
