Vaughn Palmer: B.C. Liberals propose ethics reforms for legislature
VICTORIA — No longer would senior officers at the legislature have jobs for life. There would be pre-approval of foreign junkets and full disclosure of spending afterward.
And — incredible that it even needed to be said — no more publicly funded liquor cabinets.
Those were among 20 proposed ethics reforms that the B.C. Liberals released last week in response to a recent report from Speaker Darryl Plecas concerning staff spending in the legislature.
