Vancouver sets new record with 8th fire death in 2018

Even though there are still a few days to go until the end of December, 2018 has already set a record as the deadliest year for death by fire in Vancouver for more than 50 years.
Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services said Wednesday that the eighth person died in hospital last week as a result of a fire earlier this month.
Capt. Jonathan Gormick, public information officer, said the previous high number of deaths by fire was seven which occurred in 2002, 2006, and 2008.
