UBC's iconic Pit Pub celebrates its 50th birthday

A UBC campus institution turns 50 this month, as the iconic Pit Pub celebrates a half-century of serving drinks to the student population.
Next week, the student-led Alma Mater Society, which successfully lobbied in 1968 to end the university’s run as an alcohol-free campus for students, will lead a celebration of the Pit Pub’s 50th birthday. Festivities will include the unveiling of a mural to commemorate the historic occasion.
