UBC team records second repeating radio burst from outside our galaxy
A team of Canadian scientists — including several from B.C. — has recorded only the second-ever repeating radio burst from outside our galaxy.
The repeating burst was among 13 fast-radio bursts (FRB) recorded by a radio telescope in the Okanagan Valley. The telescope, which resembles a set of skateboarding half-pipes, was built as part of the Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment (CHIME) to record radio signals from outer space.
