This Week in History: 1942: Corty the Kitten, Fifth Columnists and Watching The Clock While You Talk

The Second World War was in its third year by September 1942. On the home front, businesses showed their patriotism by taking out war-themed ads.
Some were pertinent, others slightly ludicrous. Seventy-six years later, though, they are all pretty interesting.
A good example is B.C. Tel’s “Watch The Clock While You Talk” ad, which featured a man telling a friend he was “rationing my phone calls until after the war.”
