This Week in History: 1901 Greer's Beach gets a new name

Greer’s Beach was a popular camping spot in early Vancouver. But the name probably irked the Canadian Pacific Railway, that had been given the beach in 1885 as part of a 6,000-acre land grant.
The problem was the beach was named after the C.P.R.’s foe Sam Greer, who claimed he had purchased the beach and 200 acres of land off four Aboriginals in 1884.
