Raise-a-Reader: Children's book to raise funds for literacy

It’s the first time Shelley Hird has written a children’s book. It helped she had a picky, pint-sized editor to keep her on her toes. 
As Artina’s West Coast Adventure slowly came into being, Hird would show the latest pages and illustrations to her five-year-old son, Hudson. 
“I’d ask him what he likes, what he doesn’t like,” said the Vancouver mom. “It’s important a five-year-old would want to read it.”
Hird got the idea for
