Overdose crisis: Hope for change in 2018 after deadliest year on record
In the coming months, the B.C. Coroners Service will release a report tallying overdose deaths in 2017, and the number will confirm that it has been yet another abysmal year for people who use drugs, as well as their loved ones.
Already in the first 10 months of 2017, at least 1,208 people died of an illicit drug overdose in B.C. That’s well above the 683 people who died during the same period last year, when there was a total of 985 overdose deaths, according to the agency.
