After seeing an online video of the 99-year-old golfer, Postmedia reached out to Watts to arrange an interview about his golf game.
On April 2, the morning a reporter planned to visit him, Watts felt short of breath. He was rushed to hospital, where doctors found fluid in his lungs and he was eventually diagnosed with cancer.
