New Westminster passes renoviction bylaw

New Westminster has passed a bylaw that would allow the city to either fine landlords who “renovict” their tenants or revoke their business licenses.
Rental building owners could face fines up to $1,000 a day if they break laws such as evicting tenants without fair notice or failing to provide the right of first refusal for tenants to move back in to their suites at the same rental cost as before the renovations.
