Metro Vancouver board approves TransLink gas tax request

TransLink will receive $142 million in federal gas tax money to expand and modernize its bus fleet.
Metro Vancouver’s board of directors approved the expenditure at a meeting on Friday.
In its application to Metro, the regional transit authority outlined five projects to which the gas tax funding would be applied.
TransLink plans to order 25 double-decker diesel buses, 62 60-foot hybrid buses, six 40-foot battery-electric buses, 52 HandyDART vehicles, and nine community shuttles.
